Oven Door Hinges: Signs of Wear

What carries the door
On Viking’s freestanding gas ranges the door hangs on two hinge arms that slide into sockets in the door, with door stops that rest against stop notches. The service manual takes the door off by working those stops and sliding the door up the arms, and it removes a hinge only once the door is off, through the front of the range. That is technician work: the door is heavy and a door that slips can crack its glass.
What wears them
Weight on an open door is the usual cause. Viking warns against sitting, stepping, standing or leaning on any part of the oven, and notes that heavy loading of the oven door can tip a range that was not installed with its anti-tip device.
The owner check
